The ABC Roots Campaign
[su_spoiler title=”THE BACKGROUND” style=”fancy” icon=”plus-square-1″]The ABC Roots Campaign is the umbrella terminology that incorporates and embodies all of Imani’s Activism.
This specific campaign was initiated by Imani in August 2012, as a means of unifying and uniting all of his activism into one strategy, to enable him to increase his capacity in his endeavours to raise peoples awareness of African peoples heritage & culture.
The ABC Roots Campaign actually began in August 2012, when Imani was interviewed by Ragga Jesse on Irie UK, a Local Radio Station, broadcasting throughout the West Midlands and the Black Country specifically. The theme topic for this interview was the importance of the month of August, in the heritage of African Black people. Topics and dates discussed were; August 1st and the Emancipation of Slaves; the 6th i.e. Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary of Independence; and the 17th, which is the birth date of both The Rt. Hon. Marcus M. Garvey and Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia.This interview initiated Imani’s;
VISION FOR THE ABC ROOTS CAMPAIGN STRATEGY. [/su_spoiler]
[su_spoiler title=”WHY ABC ROOTS?” style=”fancy” icon=”plus-square-1″]The ABC as mentioned and detailed on previous pages, is an Acronym, with a triple barrel meaning i.e.(1) Achieving Beyond Circumstances,
(2) African British Caribbean
(3) African British Connection. ROOTS as already mentioned is also another acronym representing Reclaiming Our Own True Self. Put Together this Simply Means & Represents; ’Reclaiming Our Own True Self, to Achieve Beyond our Circumstances’, or to Achieve Beyond our Circumstances by Reclaiming Our Own True Self’; Whichever way interpreted this title represents the main aim, object and purpose of this campaign that is to Help and Support people Learn More About & better appreciate African – Black History & Culture. Additionally, and as important too, are the other 2 meanings for the acronym ABC, African British – Caribbean & Connection, as both these terms symbolises, highlights and identifies the actual medium and vehicle through which this objective will be achieved, by whom and from where this campaign will be spearheaded, managed and based. The name of this campaign also represents a culmination of all of Imani’s, knowledge, skills, resources and his initiated projects over many, many years, many of which have carried a title that has included either ABC or ROOTS. [su_spoiler title=”IMPLEMENTING THE ABC ROOTS CAMPAIGN ” style=”fancy” icon=”plus-square-1″]This campaign will endeavour to use all mediums including; media, social, online and other networks available to us in this modern technological world, to ensure that those people with a genuine interest and desire to learn about African – Black people can get that relevant information and material to help develop their cultural awareness and identity. The Roots Campaign also offers people the opportunity to get involved and contribute practically, in supporting and helping us achieve these objectives. The campaign began, to try help identify, develop and provide a wide variety and range of mediums through which people can learn about this rich cultural heritage. This is achieved through inaugurating, financing and managing a range of projects, specifically set up to help promote positive, cultural material and information concerning the heritage of African – Black people. This website Imani’s Website is also part of the ABC Roots Campaign, together with everything else since 2012 that Imani develops in a bid to increase his capacity as a cultural activist.
